Castro says racism prevents millions in U.S. from supporting Obama
Chicago Tribune

AP: HAVANA - Fidel Castro says a "profound racism" in the United States will stop millions from voting for Barack Obama in next month's presidential election. The ailing, 82-year-old former Cuban president says it is "a miracle that the Democratic candidate hasn't suffered the same luck as (assassinated leaders) Martin Luther King, Malcolm X and others who harbored dreams of equality and justice." Castro's written comments were published by state media Saturday. In them, he insists a "profound racism" exists in the U.S. and that millions of whites "cannot reconcile themselves to the idea that a black person. . .could occupy the White House, which is called just that: white." Castro also described Republican presidential candidate John McCain as "bellicose."

Editor's Note -- VERY VERY VERY SAD: Castro joins Obama supporters in demonizing and denigrating McCain supporters as being racists, and Castro goes one further, Castro all but calls McCain supporters assassins. Castro is a communist who hates capitalism and who hates America. His endorsement of Obama is one more of thousands and thousands of reasons to vote for McCain.

Obama warns against fear and panic as stocks tumble
AFP

Editor's Note -- Voters are starting to get angry at Obama's success in driving the stock market down to get elected - The Republican Party platform promotes capitalism while the Democrat Party platform promotes socialism. Obviously, no country, no organization, and no individual that wants McCain and other Republicans elected on November 4 is driving the stock market down. So obviously, countries, organizations, and individuals that want Obama and other Democrats elected are driving the stock market down. Outrageously, what they are practicing is financial terrorism. Beyond outrageously, they are threatening to drive the stock market down even further -- they want a mandate to immediately replace capitalism with socialism, or maybe, with something even worse. Voters are starting to get angry at Obama's success in driving the stock market down to get elected. Some are panicking at the thought of Obama winning. Needless-to-say, voters should not surrender to financial terrorism. Needless-to-say, Americans should vote for McCain and for the other Republicans.

Illinois Democrats aim for bigger legislative majority
Chicago Tribune

O'CONNOR: Cross and Republicans also are telling voters to expect an income tax increase to deal with the state's financial woes if Democrats get a supermajority. Blagojevich opposes a tax increase. Steve Brown, spokesman for House Speaker Michael Madigan, dismissed Cross' claim and said he was unaware of any tax increase in the works. Even so, Madigan said in January 2007 he was prepared to make "unpopular choices" to fix the budget, noting he'd supported income tax increases and budget cuts in the past. Blagojevich, whose administration faces multiple investigations over hiring and fundraising, also is extremely unpopular with voters. And even if Democrats have a banner year, he will lose his strongest legislative ally, Senate President Emil Jones, who is retiring in January.

Romney is coming to town for Roskam
Daily Herald

RYAN: Former Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney is set to swing through the suburbs and raise cash for U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam. The fundraiser is set for Oct. 21. The entrance fee is $150 or $250 with a date. It will run $1,000 per person and $1,500 per couple to get into the dinner and for a photo with the former Massachusetts CEO. "Romney coming to campaign for the congressman is a reflection of the congressman's accomplishments," boasted spokesman Matt Vriesema when asked about the recently announced fundraiser. Roskam was actually an early and staunch supporter in the primaries of Sen. John McCain, who easily took DuPage County and the state. The fundraiser will be held in Oak Brook. Romney is not currently scheduled to raise money or stump for any other Republican candidate in the state.

After Palin gets personal, Obama warns: DON'T GO THERE
Chicago Sun-Times

Editor's Note -- Obama is far more anti-Republican than Gore, Kerry, or either Clinton. Illinois Republicans are increasingly disappointed with the softness toward Obama that many Illinois Republican Party leaders, many Illinois Republican elected officials, many Illinois Republican candidates, and many Illinois "conservative leaders" are showing. The more that you do to advance the Republican Party platform, the more that Democrats call you a racist. If being called a racist by Democrats causes you to pull back, then you lack what it takes to advance the Republican Party platform. If you think that Obama and his supporters will reward you for being soft on him, you are sadly mistaken.

DuPage County GOPers hoist McCain and VP pick Palin
Illinois Review

EATON: Over 1000 Sarah Palin lipsticks, 1000 McCain/Palin yard signs and 1000 containers of Oberweis ice cream were distributed Monday night at DuPage Co GOP's annual rally. Those attending were notably enthused about John McCain's pick for VP, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin. RNC Committeeman Pat Brady said when he returned from the Republican National Convention, he had 450 emails asking how they could help with the McCain/Palin campaign. Brady said the IL GOP was working to get McCain and Palin to Illinois, but admitted it would be a tough task. "Illinois isn't too high on the priority list, but things could change quickly. We're going to keep trying," he said. "There's no doubt, Palin energized the base in Illinois." State Rep. Jim Durkin said he was headed to Springfield for Tuesday's session, and was the only state lawmaker at the DuPage event, as the others were at the Capitol. Durkin addressed the crowd as chairman of Illinois' McCain campaign saying at the Republican National Convention, ". . .we watched the emergence of one of the greatest political stars to come on the horizon in Governor Sarah Palin. . . ." Republican candidate to replace retiring State Rep. Jim Meyers Lisle's Mike Connelly said he, too, is encouraged about the renewed enthusiasm among Republicans since the convention. "We're not taking anything for granted, but things look good for my race," Connelly said. "I'm not sure it came across the air waves the electricity there was in the auditorium the night Sarah Palin spoke," IL GOP's Exec Director Jason Heffley said. "It was something I'd never seen before. People of all ages were caught up in the atmosphere." Below the fold are some clips from the night's rally speeches, including Joe Birkett, Dr. Steve Sauerberg, Congressman Peter Roskam's wife Elizabeth, 14th CD candidate Jim Oberweis and State Rep. Jim Durkin.

2008 GOPUSA ILLINOIS Wish List
GOPUSA ILLINOIS

DIERSEN: The Republican Party platform is conservative and the Republican Party exists to help elect Republican candidates who can and will advance that platform. The Democrat Party platform is liberal and the Democrat Party exists to help elect Democrat candidates who can and will advance that platform. The Combine exists in Illinois to a) advance the personal financial interest of its members, b) advance the Democrat Party platform, and c) defeat candidates who can and will advance the Republican Party platform. Bills in the Illinois Senate and House would return to Illinois Republican primary election voters the power to directly elect those who govern the Illinois Republican Party (IRP) -- the 19 members of the IRP State Central Committee (SCC). Tragically, for decades, the IRP, and especially the SCC, has been dominated by the Combine. Tragically, efforts to rebuild the IRP and efforts to motivate regular Republicans to contribute to the IRP are severely hampered if not futile as long as the Combine continues to dominate the IRP.
